I'm Kimberly Garber Keiserman, a 23-year resident of Port Washington, the Long Island community where I have raised my daughters Kathryn and Susanna with my husband, John. My educational background includes a BA and M.Ed. from the College of William & Mary, and I've dedicated much of my career to education advocacy and consultancy.

I began my career as a high school social studies teacher, and later, my path led me to the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding, where I crafted resources to help teachers create inclusive classrooms, promote religious literacy, and combat religious bigotry and bullying. Currently, I work as a freelance consultant, developing curricula and educational tools that foster respect for religious and cultural differences.

I grew up moving around a lot. By the time I graduated from high school, I had lived at ten different addresses and gone to eight different schools. So when I moved to Port Washington in 2001, I was ready to find a hometown and really put down roots. In 2003, when some other moms invited me to join the board of the Port Washington Parent Resource Center, I said yes, and I have been serving in volunteer and leadership positions in the local schools and community groups ever since.

Today, I am a community leader, activist, and democratic organizer who is deeply engaged in boards and organizations in Port Washington and beyond. I serve as a commissioner on the North Hempstead Housing Authority Board, Chairwoman of the Baxter Estates Planning Board, and a board member of the Come to Believe Network. As Co-President of the Baxter’s Pond Foundation, I have worked to preserve the environmental integrity of Baxter’s Pond and Manhasset Bay, promote biodiversity, and champion local opportunities for environmental education.

Much of my volunteer work is rooted in my advocacy for educational opportunity and excellence. From my leadership of AGATE of Port Washington to my service on the Parent Resource Center advisory board to my involvement in efforts to provide mentorship and support to first-generation college students, my aim has been to ensure that every child is empowered to reach their full potential.

My passion for community drives my political organizing, which is focused on mobilizing grassroots activism and getting people involved in the democratic process. As President of the Port Washington Democratic Club and a Zone Leader for the Nassau County Democratic Committee, I have worked to elect candidates who share my commitment to community and democratic values. When conman George Santos was elected to Congress, I helped lead the fight to oust him from office and restore meaningful representation to the people of our district.

My Senate candidacy is shaped by my love for my community and my years of work here.

Long Island deserves a leader who will listen to people’s concerns and fight for their interests and values. My plans for the State Senate include strengthening education by advocating for increased funding for public schools, standing up for reproductive rights, pushing for sensible gun laws, promoting affordable communities for working families, and championing robust environmental policies to combat climate change. My goal is to create a future that reflects our shared aspirations and ensures a fair, welcoming, and prosperous Long Island for all.
